The Autism and Financial Independence Podcast
What happens when you bring autism and financial independence into the same conversation?
The Autism and Financial Independence Podcast explores the challenges autistic people can face around work, money, independence and navigating a world that isn’t always designed with them in mind.
We look at autism from the perspective of lived experience, research and advocacy, while also exploring the practical side of money: budgeting, investing, financial independence and the idea that building wealth isn’t simply about becoming rich.
For us, financial independence is about freedom, security and choice.
It’s about creating a financial position where work becomes less of an obligation and more of a choice. That could mean retiring early, but it could just as easily mean working fewer hours, changing careers, escaping a toxic workplace, taking time out, or simply having the security of knowing that you have options.
For autistic people, that flexibility can be particularly valuable.
What do we talk about?
Across the podcast, we explore topics including:
- Autism, employment and the barriers autistic people can face throughout life
- Financial independence and the principles behind FIRE
- Budgeting, saving and investing
- The relationship between money, time and freedom
- The autism industry and where the money goes
- Autistic experiences that don’t always fit neatly into the usual narratives
- Myths and misconceptions around both autism and personal finance
- Practical ways of creating greater financial security and independence
Some episodes lean more heavily towards autism. Others concentrate on money and financial independence. Often, the interesting stuff happens where the two overlap.
